SUMMARY:XLI Annual GNB School 2022 – Biomedical Engineering for Sustainable Development
DESCRIPTION:The XLI GNB school offers students an alternative view to the problems and applications of biomedical engineering\, based on a frugal and contextualized approach\, key to fostering the accessibility to safe healthcare without borders. Indeed\, the applications are not limited to low-middle income countries (LMICs)\, but extend to other contexts where resources may be lacking (e.g.\, natural disasters\, epidemics\, pandemics). \nBenefitting from the on-field experience of lectures\, mentors\, and keynote speakers\, the school will follow a “hands-on” teaching approach. \nStudents will collaboratively explore the salient steps for the development of safe\, certifiable medical devices\, thanks to the design framework offered by the UBORA platform. \nThey will go through the analysis of needs\, the classification according to European Medical Device Regulation\, and the identification of relevant standards to guide and support the design process. Appropriate and key enabling technologies\, such as 3D printing\, mobile technologies\, artificial intelligence will be contextualized through cases of study and practical activities. \nThe school will be instrumental for nurturing a new generation of Biomedical Engineers\, able to respond to the demographic and environmental challenges of the 21st century. \nFor the program please click here
